Secretary-General of CALMUN 2019

Most distinguished prospective participants of CALMUN,

I, as the Deputy Secretary-General of Cağaloğlu Anadolu Lisesi Model United Nations Conference, am more than honoured to invite you all to the fourth session of CALMUN.
We are living in a world which is globalizing rapidly and becoming more people-oriented every day. Therefore, it is currently a must to possess 21st-century skills such as problem-solving, effective communication and most importantly the ability to think in a global aspect. These being our starting point, we, the academic team of CALMUN, have prepared a total of nine committees with the aim of providing every single participant with a realistic and enriching United Nations experience. In the fourth edition of CALMUN, three General Assembly committees, which will proceed with THIMUN procedure, and six special committees, which will be guided by Harvard procedure, will take place. This year the General Assembly Committees will be focusing on the most crucial social and security issues of our generation while endeavouring to better the actions of the United Nations itself. Our three intermediate level special committees; USAN, House of Commons of the United Kingdom and NATO will try to resolve the quite controversial problems of the most important European and South American actors on the global and regional stage: Drugs, corruption, nuclear threat and maybe the hardest one to discuss: Brexit. In our last, yet most challenging three committees, UNSC, Nixon's Cabinet and The Joint Crisis Committee, the delegates will have the chance to alternate the course of history, solve crucial security problems and develop a better understanding of past events have shaped our today and our future.
In conclusion, I want to thank you for your interest and state that we are looking forward to seeing you at CALMUN!

Best Regards,

Beyza Ovalıoğlu
